1. Pay your people what they are worth
You could easily lose great people because you’re underpaying them. When you set salaries, be mindful that you pay in line with what other companies in your industry, as well as the country, regional or local businesses in your area, are paying.

Everyone wants to work in a place that’s clean, appealing, and that makes them feel good. This doesn’t mean that you have to spend a lot of money to make an office a more pleasant place to be, but take care to make the workplace an inspiring one.

When members of your team have opportunities to learn new skills, they will be more valuable to your business and even to themselves. Asking for their input and suggestions on how to do things better is a simple way you can use to cultivate collaboration. So ask questions, listen to their answers, and, whenever possible, implement their solutions.

Know whether the people on your team are happy with their work, their leader/manager, and you. Happy people are enthusiastic and positive members of your team, and their attitude is contagious! 6. Don’t punish failure
We all make mistakes. In business, we should try to learn lessons from any mistakes so that the team can avoid making them again. So, when members of your team make honest mistakes, and they will… don’t punish them… instead, embolden them to try again.
7. Set clear goals
It’s been reported that “63 percent of employees reported that they wasted time at work because they weren’t aware of what work was a priority, and what wasn’t.” As a leader, you need to work with the members of your team to set clear goals. Then, once you set those goals, make sure each person knows exactly what they are, what their priorities are, and what the team’s task is in reaching them.
8. Don’t micromanage
According to a study, “38 percent of employees in one survey reported that they would rather take on unpleasant activities than sitting next to a micromanaging boss.” Providing your people with clear goals as above and then letting them figure out the best way to achieve them is paramount. No one likes a boss who is constantly looking over their shoulder and second-guessing their every decision, so don’t do it!
9. Avoid useless meetings
Let’s have a meeting to have another meeting – I think not, but sometimes it feels like that! Meetings can be an incredible waste of time. Research shows that an average professional wastes 3.8 hours in unproductive meetings every week.
